In keeping in form with his counterpart blond celebrities, my dog Sesame has landed himself in jail for 10 days. As we all know, Ses has a little biting problem, which got away from him on Saturday as he went after a neighborhood kid and put a nice gash in his leg. Being the responsible dog owner I am, I had let his rabbies vaccination expire by a couple of months. After much consultation with his doggy lawyers, Ses turned himself in to the Eldorado Animal Clinic. He will spend the next ten days smoking and lifting weights and promised to tattoo Melissa's name on his front leg. Upon his release a nice new muzzle will be waiting for him along with a stint at doggy rehab. Live from santa fe, this is robin abeles.

Back in the 70's, my girlfriend, Dotty, and I acquired the cutest little Weimeraner puppy when he was three months old. Dottie named him Humphrey. He was smart as a tack and indomitable. He could climb anything, fence, wall or tree, and could escape from virtually any confining borders we could establish around him in an attempt to give ourselves some peace. If we went to visit someone who refused entry to dogs, Humphrey would find the only available breach in the house's defenses, no matter how long it took, and rush inside to annoy everyone. He scaled the six foot fence in our yard any number of times. He was so adorably attractive that we forgave him every crime and misdemeanor. His one bad and ultimately fatal habit was to snap suddenly at children who would be interacting with him, sometimes after many minutes of cooperative play. After two short confinements in the pound for just such a nipping, Humphrey was farmed out. We felt that he would do better if he lived out in the bucolics with a great deal of roaming room, so we gave him to a nice couple of outlyers who phoned us a few weeks later to inform us that Humphrey had, indeed, snorched another kid and was awaiting his fate in the pound. We had two options: Retrieve our retriever or let The State extract the life out of his gorgeous body. Goodbye, Humphrey. I still miss him.
